Welcome to the 3C Conference 2009!
The 3C Conference was a historic senior-level dialogue across different policy communities such as foreign affairs, defence, development, humanitarian aid, finance, trade, police, and justice – at the level of national governments and international and/or regional organizations, to move ahead with the challenges, adaptations, and operational requirements of a coherent, coordinated, complementary (3C) approach to achieve better results in conflict and fragile situations in terms of sustainable peace, stability, state-building and long-term development.
An operational-thematic Conference with a high-level opening segment and policy elements linked to the outcome document (3C Roadmap), it was organized by the Government of Switzerland in association with the co-convenors OECD, United Nations, World Bank and NATO. Close to 300 invited policy and decision-makers from 40 countries, key international and/or regional organisations as well as selected civil society representatives attended the event.
The 3C Roadmap adopted in the Conference closing reinforces existing international policy commitments with the ownership and endorsement of other policy communities, thus creating Whole of System / Whole of Government commitments and generating new impetus for their implementation. The Roadmap also contains a series of specific operational recommendations and joint and individual commitments and willfeed into strategic meetings of the co-convenors later in 2009.
3C Conference Report and detailed summaries and conclusions from the various sessions are available under "The Conference / Conference Report resp. Session Reports".
